About The Modpack
-----------------
This is a collection of all my personal stuff arranged so that
anyone can use it. It includes several files that do anything
from add skins to alter the way the game behaves. I will list
all the included files, explain what they do and what is required
for them to work.

Note that in the following discourse the letters "DS" refer to the
original Dungeon Siege and "LOA" refers to the expansion.

In an effort to make this a little easier to deal with I have assigned
prefixes to all of the files to help group them somewhat. In general,
the prefixes are:
x_ -- Means the file is mostly independent
y_ -- Means the file optional, use one or the other
z_ -- Means all of these files are dependent on each other

Also, all files that are useable only with LOA have "xp" in the name.
While this helps me to distinguish the files at a glance, you should
still read the info on each one and note the needed files.

Filename:       x_displacers.dsres
Game Versions:  DS
Compatability:  I've never had any problems.
Needed Files:   none
Description:    This activates all displacers in the MP world and should
                only be used when playing the MP world. If you already have
                one of these then junk this file.

Filename:       x_templates.dsres
Game Versions:  DS, LOA
Compatability:  Should probably not be used with other mods.
Needed Files:   none
Description:    This modifies the actor template to make most actors (creatures)
                explode into bloody chunks when killed. I was pissed off when they
                removed the +chunky cheat so I made this. It also modifies the
                template for bushes that spawn creatures so they spawn more. It can
                get a little hairy.

                WARNING: This was designed to be used with the MP world. It can be
                used with LOA but it will cause odd behavior. For example, the Shadow
                Jumper will explode at the end of cut scenes and drop the Staff of Stars.
                If you pick it up, game over. It will also cause some monsters to drop
                overpowered weapons, like the "Zaurask Dull Blade". You'll see what I
                mean if you use it. If you can refrain from picking up things you
                shouldn't and like bloody chunks then you should enjoy this.

                Update 12Apr04: I changed that silly looking pink mist that appears
                when some monsters explode to something a lot more bloody.

Compatability:  Should probably not be used with other mods.
Needed Files:   x_templates.dsres
Description:    This makes the krug explode into bloody chunks as above. Since
                some genius made explicit declarations in the krug templates they
                had to be modified also.

Compatability:  Should NOT be used with other mods.
Needed Files:   none
Description:    This file contains three versions of farmgirl that I use with my
                skins. See further down for more details.

Compatability:  Shouldn't cause any problems.

Description:    This contains sounds I use for my heroes and is needed if you
                plan to use my skins.

Filename:       z_weapons.dsres

Compatability:  Shouldn't cause any problems.
Needed Files:   none
Description:    This contains weapons and spells I use for my heroes. See notes
                on the weapons for more info. You can use it separately if you
                like the weapons. Just drop it in and they randomly appear.

Filename:       z_xp_weapons.dsres
Game Versions:  *LOA only*
Compatability:  Shouldn't cause any problems unless you don't have LOA.
Needed Files:   z_weapons.dsres
Description:    This contains weapons I use for my heroes. It makes some LOA
                references so I keep it separate. It cannot be used without
                z_weapons!

                Notes On The Weapons: The weapons increase their damage based
                on the character's main stat. For example, the psionic sword
                does more damage as the character's intelligence increases.
                This is a good weapon for a mage but not a fighter (doh).

                As the character's stat increases you will have to unequip the
                weapon and re-equip because the game will not update the weapon
                when the character levels up. Not my fault.

                These weapons and spells are designed for single player games.
                They are far too powerful for multi player as the monsters have a lot
                less hit points in multi player mode. They could possibly even be too
                powerful for single player and make the game too easy. Use your own
                discretion.

                Note On The Spells: Originally I wanted design a new magic class but
                decided I didn't want to go through all that hassle. So what I did
                was design spells of both magic classes that were powered by the
                mage's intelligence instead of magic level. This way you can master
                both magic classes without sacrificing spell damage. A few of the
                spells are based on magic level, like conventional spells, but
                most are not.

                There is also a low level version of triple strike with a smaller
                radius. It's still cheating but it's fun with lots of exploding
                krug.

                For all you Quake fans, there is a rocket launcher. Muhahaha!
                I don't use it as a starting weapon so you'll have to find it
                or put it on the heroes or in the shops if you know how.

Compatability:  Shouldn't cause any problems.

Audience:       ***ADULT***
Description:    This contains some 50-some-odd skins I use for my heroes. Some will
                be available at hero creation (see below) and others will pop up randomly
                in the game. They range from lingerie to sexy armor to tattoos to just
                plain nudity. It also contains a template for a hero you can use as
                an NPC if you're into that. And if you are I don't need to tell you
                how to find it.

Compatability:  Should NOT be used with any mod that provides additional options
                at hero creation, including hero types or skins.
Needed Files:   z_newmodel.dsres, z_hero_stuff.dsres, z_weapons.dsres,
                z_xp_weapons.dsres, z_hero_skins.dsres
Audience:       ***ADULT***
Description:    This allows you to select three different body shape variations of
                the farmgirl:
                1) Normal but more shapely.
                2) Big breasted.
                3) Petite (smaller breast and waist).

                With each variation you will be able to select any of 25+ tops and bottoms
                to make an outfit that pleases you. Most of the tops have matching bottoms
                but some of them look good with others as well. You decide. Note that only
                one of the bare breasted skins was designed for the petite version. I should
                not have to tell you which one.

                Pay attention to the following because I will not answer e-mails that ask
                me why this happens...

                Once in the game you CANNOT wear armor if you want to keep your outfit!
                If you do the model will be changed to the default for that armor type
                and you will lose your outfit. To compensate for this each hero will be
                given three amulets that add to armor based on the main stat of the type
                of character you plan to play (i.e., str, dex, int).

                As the character's stat increases you will have to unequip the amulet
                and re-equip it because the game will not update the armor rating when
                the character levels up. Not my fault.

                You will also be given a selection of weapons and spells that you can
                choose to use or not. Same story with these. You have to re-equip them
                every time your character gains strength, wis or int.

                Probably the most interesting weapon is the gloves which allows you to
                emulate a monk (no visible weapon and use hand to hand animations).
                It's my favorite anyway.

                Character Properties: The three character types have different
                properties which make them more suited for certain roles, but will
                by no means eliminate the possibility of them advancing in different
                "classes". Here's what I mean.

                The "Normal" Physique:  Int +1, faster mana regen.
                The "Large" Physique:   Str +1, faster hp regen, slower mana regen.
                The Petite Physique:    Dex +1, faster hp regen.

                Note that hair, hands and feet will clip through helmets, gloves
                and boots. I tried to make them hidden in GMax, following suggestions
                and tutorials, but it refuses to export the model properly if I do.
                If you must wear gloves and boots, even though your armor rating should
                be fine with the amulet, it doesn't look so bad if you pick the skin
                that looks like it has gloves and boots.

                If you must ask why I didn't make 21 types of armor and nearly 1000
                helmets, gloves and boots, so all the models would work perfectly
                in the game it's because:
                1) I'm lazy.
                2) SiegeMax crashes a lot.
                3) I don't need no stinking armor.
                4) I'm not getting paid for this.

                WARNING: You MUST have one of these files (this one or the one below)
                in your resources or LOA folder to play my heroes. The game will not
                find the hero character if you don't.

Game Versions:  DS ONLY
Compatability:  Should NOT be used with any mod that provides additional options
                at hero creation, including hero types or skins.
Needed Files:   z_newmodel.dsres, z_hero_stuff.dsres, z_weapons.dsres,
                z_hero_skins.dsres
Audience:       ***ADULT***
Description:    This is the DS ONLY version of the above file. Heroes will not be given
                the LOA versions of weapons and spells. You DO NOT need to use this file
                if you have LOA and are using y_xp_heroes instead. I only provided it
                for the people who don't have LOA.

                WARNING: You MUST have one of these files (this one or the one above)
                in your resources or LOA folder to play my heroes. The game will not
                find the hero character if you don't.

Misc Info
---------
The way the guys at Gas Powered set up the skin/face/etc files is kind of lame.
Instead of being able to add to the array of available skins it overwrites them.
Therefore the the y_heroes and y_xp_heroes files will overwrite any other
skin/playable-monster mods you have. If you want to use my skins with other mods
you'll have to merge the contents of certain files, specifically:

config/multiplayer.gas
ui/config/character_camera/character_camera.gas
world/global/skins/faces.gas
world/global/skins/hair.gas
world/global/skins/pants.gas
world/global/skins/shirts.gas

If you know how to do this you don't need my help. If you don't
know, here's a quick run-down.

You need TankViewer and TankCreator. You should be able to get
them from siegenet or some place (can't remember). Then...

1) Use Tankviewer to extract the files from the mod into a temp folder, using
folder names, so that the directory structure remains in tact. Also extract my
files to a different folder so they don't overwrite.

2) Copy and paste my (wch_*) data into the appropriate places in the above
named files.

4) Open Tank creator, select the temp folder in the "Source" line and type in
the name of the dsres file you are replacing.

It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it.






Permissions, etc.

You are free to use and distribute this mod as you like so long as:
1) The files are not altered in any way before they distributed.
2) This readme remains with the files.
In other words, if you distribute it then do it just the way it is.
Don't change anything and don't add it to a "compilation". I don't
want my stuff mixed in with other stuff.

By rights, all this stuff belongs to GPG anyway, so their copyrights
apply I suppose.
